THE MANY MISTRESSES OF OBASANJO
Seyi Oduyela/ Africananews.com
President Olusegun Obasanjo is no doubt a man of controversy and he seems to
enjoy it. But is surprising is that in spite of pressure on him as the Nigerian
President, African Union Chairman, the man still has time to unwind with his
many women. Apart from controversy and squash, the next best game the Otta
farmer enjoys is women. Though he does not smoke or drink because he is
diabetic, the man likes women.
That he has many women is no more news. The man himself does not even hide it.
What is interesting is who he dates. According to a very close associate of the
Landlord of Aso Villa, women are good tonic for the struggle. They relieve
tension for the Balogun of Owu.
We know he was legally married to Oluwaremilekun, his first wife and mother of
most of his grown up kids, like Iyabo-the Health Commissioner in Ogun State,
Gbenga the University Of Ibadan College Of Medicine Graduate and others. The
Owambe first lady (Stella) came into scene later as another legitimate wife.
There is a retired Army Major Mojisola; there was Taiwo Martins, who reigned
till 1988. Gold Oruh of the Nigerian Television Authority is another of the many
women of President Obasanjo.
After his retirement in 1979, and the establishment of the Obasanjo Farm
Nigeria, the man became a very busy man, globetrotting. To a lot of outsiders,
the Otta Farm House (Obasanjo’s own quarters on the Farm), serves as a meeting
place for leaders and friends of the former Head of State. But it is more than
that. While the Ita-Iyalode house in Abeokuta serve as his matrimonial home, the
Balogun of Owu lived in Otta farm as a bachelor. None of his wives stayed in
Otta with him. Women come and go. Activities at the Farm House go beyond the
African Leadership Forum Meetings and the Squash games. The Otta Farm House also
serves as a slaughter ground for the midnight lovers of President Obasanjo, and
it is still so now.
Even now as President, it has been rumored that the man still keeps his many
women. Though Stella lives with him in the Villa, it does not stop him from
doing his damn thing. Because of this neglect, Villa sources disclose that the
Owambe first lady resulted into heavy drinking and smoking.
Sources disclose that the man has among his women, some of his women Ministers,
Special Advisers and Assistants. It was rumored that one of the ladies serving
him tea at the Villa is now in England after she was impregnated by the Balogun
of Owu. A former member of the Alliance for democracy from Osun State, who
defected to Peoples Democratic Party and won her seat back in the House of
Representatives is said to be on the President’s buddy call list. According to
sources, she used this to lure her colleagues in the Alliance for Democracy in
2002 to defect to PDP in order to support Obasanjo’s second term bid. She has
immensely benefited from her services to the Commander-in-chief of the Armed
Forces of the Federal republic of Nigeria. There was also a Minister who served
in the first term with President whom he often referred to as “my Bathsheba.”
In 2001, the Tempo Magazine in Nigeria reported that President Obasanjo snatched
the wife of a Commissioner under Governor Segun Osoba. Sources at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja disclosed that the president’s unholy relationship
with one of his Special Advisers has put the lady in trouble with the Owambe
first lady. The scene was at the Hotel in New York during the United Nations
General Assembly Meeting in September 2004. The Special Adviser was dressed down
by Mrs Stella Obasanjo at the lobby of the Hotel.
