Cell: 234-09-0802-714-1587 E-mail: elattayi@yahoo.com SUMMARY: For morer than 18 years now, I have been involved in media practice with records of achievement in diverse sectors, ranging from book publishing, development of a magazine, editing and reportage of events. I have competence to provide research, writing and journalistic capacity for public relations and public affairs, as well as corporate communications for media and enterprises. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS: Ability to research, analyze, and edit complex information and ideas, and present them either orally or in writing, with competence and speedStrategic educational and media campaigns, including research, writing and distribution of press releases. Expertise in diverse fields - multidisciplinary capacity in features writing. Ability at work at irregular hours. MAJOR CARREER RESPONSIBILITIES: 2002 - 2005: North America and the United Nations Bureau Chief of News Agecy of Nigeria (NAN) and Pan African News Agency (PANA), for the purpose of writing and editing stories and news features on issues of common interest to the 53 countries in Africa. Responsibilities included travels, colation of information and processing of materials for transmission to NAN and PANA for distribution to all media in Africa. I worked closely with the UN Secretariat, the Bretton Woods institutions and the diplomatic corps on such issues as aid, debts, democracy, economy, conflicts and development as regards events in Africa. 2000 - 2002: Judiciary and Polcitical Correspondent of NAN, when I contributed to the reportage of Nigeria's judicial process and the fledgling democracy. Responsibilities included the coverae of normal court sessions, judicial panels and the Supreme Court of Nigeria, as well as the events at the National Assembly and Political Parties. 1999 - 2000: Consulted for Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP), a Nigeria based NGO on democracy education, and launched its Legislative Mandate magazine of record. I served as editor of the magazine, which provided the Nigeria's national and state legislatures, as well as politicians and the civil society with enlightenment on processes of democracy, transparency, and seperation of power. I also facilitated meetings of the Transition Monitoring Group, a coalition of more than 100 pro-democracy and rights groups in the country. 1987 - 1999: I was correspondent of two leading national dailies, The Reporter and Champion newspapers, where I caused improved sales and popularity of the papers because of excellent coverage of events in my areas of operation. EDUCATION I hold a B.Sc. Degree in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1983), and attempted M.Sc. in Political Science at Bayero University, Kano (1995) - lost at thesis presentation due ideological parity. |
